Topic proposal

My topic proposal is that high schools need to push their start time to later in the morning. I've done plenty of research regarding sleep and why it's so important for school. High school students are tired all day long because they have to wake up early in the morning and stay functioning until the afternoon. Most of the time, students stay up late to do homework and other obligations. When I had late starts in high school those were the days I was well rested and ready for the day ahead of me, when I woke up at 6, I wasn't. I think this topic is important because sleep is something that affects mental health and if the times don't change then a lot of students could experience mental problems. It's something that can be fixed and I think that needs to be addressed as well. https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health-topics/sleep-deprivation-and-deficiency https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/sleep-and-mental-health

Major Speech 2

For this assignment we are supposed to make a speech about something that we feel needs to be changed and give our proposal. We have to come up with solutions on how we are supposed to get this done and fix the problem. My question about the assignment would be 1. What if we cant think of ways to solve the problem? 2. How many solutions do we need?

Introduction and Methods

Introduction   Research has been conducted time and time again about the importance of sleep on academic performance. It is said that sleep is crucial when talking about school work and performance for students. College students specifically go through a transition from high school when they are on a set sleep schedule  and veer away from it.  This transition might make college students think they can stay up later because they don’t have parents telling them what to do. This leads to the question ,  is sleep affecting the academic performance of college students? A survey was conducted to see just how many college students feel their performance is affected by sleep. The results of this can be eye opening for college students and their sleep schedules  along with their grades and GPA.    Greg  Voakes , author of the article  The Importance of Getting Sleep in College , said that college students need to be getting on average of 8.5...
