Unit 1 Reflection

1. What were the most challenging parts of the assignment? What do you think could be changed/done to make it better/more useful?
2. In preparation for the assignment, we did several things like
  • Discussing basic analytical concepts (SLR, AATP, etc.)
  • Outlining papers and peer-reviewing them
  • Analyzing sample papers
  • Peer reviewing first drafts
  • Conducting individual conferences

1. The most challenging parts for me was finding sources because I am not sure I knew exactly what I was looking for. I knew that I needed to find a business article but it was hard to tell exactly what fit in with the essay. Another thing

First Assignment due 8/22

For this assignment I understand that we will be learning about how to write in the context of our intended fields of study. Interviewing people who have already gone through the field know what they're doing and are able to help better understand what you need to know and how you need to write according to what they do. The reason for looking at other pieces of writing and analyzing them is to better understand what they did good and bad so that you learn from their writing and create a strong piece of writing. For example, in my english class in high school we always looked at good pieces of writing and took away the best parts of the piece so that we could use that as an outline almost for our own writing. This helped so much because you're able to see strong pieces of writing but also poor pieces and learn what not to do.
