3 sources Jordyn West

https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-540-70818-6_14 This is an academic article that was posted in the new york times about business. This article is technically speaking about the way businessmen and women speak in the field. They talk using words that are less understanding for most people who are not in this intended field. I would use this article as an understanding of how to use certain words with my intended audience. This is a shorter article about business.  https://europepmc.org/abstract/med/15929407 This article is a non-academic journal article. It explains why the business field is struggling because of the education that we are getting. I would be able to use this source to use language that makes sense and have more of an understanding of the things I would need to know to write to a directed audience.  https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781136172984  This is an academic piece since it's a book about business. First Assignment due 8/22

The reason for looking at other pieces of writing and analyzing them is to better understand what they did good and bad so that you learn from their writing and create a strong piece of writing. For example, in my english class in high school we always looked at good pieces of writing and took away the best parts of the piece so that we could use that as an outline almost for our own writing. This helped so much because you're able to see strong pieces of writing but also poor pieces and learn what not to do. This assignment also gives us an understanding that there will always be some sort of writing style we will need to use and be familiar with no matter wha...

What is Rhetoric?

Rhetoric is the ability to speak and write effectively and accurately. For example, giving speeches to get your point across or persuasion to a group of people. Another one would be writing a paper with well written language that brings the audience in and makes them want to read the piece. Repetition in writing helps make the audience believe that it is important. In speeches you want to write about things that the audience cares about. The audience is a huge part in what you write about. Attract the attention of the audience through emotion and repitition.
